Induction Heating Furnace

Billet Heating Furnace

The billet heating furnace prepares solid steel billets and metal ingots for rolling, forging or forming. Its role is to heat an existing workpiece for the next mechanical operation. Billet section, material, heating requirement and the receiving machine guide the equipment discussion.

MATERIAL & APPLICATION

Understand the application.

Input materials

Steel billet

Prepare a solid billet for its next operation

This furnace heats billets and ingots that will subsequently be rolled, forged or formed. It is not a continuous casting machine and does not turn molten steel into billets. Identify the steel type and the physical section entering the heating stage, including its condition on arrival.

Match the heating task to billet movement

A billet-heating arrangement needs to fit the way workpieces arrive and move to the next machine. Provide typical billet dimensions and explain whether material is handled individually or as part of a production sequence. Specify the required heating task and the receiving operation rather than selecting equipment only by a power figure.

Define the boundary with the rolling or forging equipment

Discuss loading, discharge and transfer space alongside the selected power-supply requirements. Where the furnace is being added to an existing line, identify the entry condition and the timing needed by the rolling or forging stage. Keep the heating package, site supply and downstream machinery as separately identified responsibilities in the proposal.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Before you decide

Does this furnace produce steel billets from molten metal?

No. Its task is heating solid billets or ingots. Converting molten steel into billets is the task of continuous casting equipment.

What information helps connect it to a rolling mill?

Provide billet material and section, incoming condition, handling arrangement and the required delivery to the mill. Include the existing equipment and site electrical information.
