A hinged cutting task
An alligator shear cuts scrap between a fixed blade and a moving, hinged jaw. It addresses section cutting before collection or further processing. Describe the metal and cross-section being cut, including shaped sections and attached material, rather than treating every object that fits near the jaw as acceptable feed.
Describe the cut and the feed
Provide typical and maximum section dimensions and the length wanted after cutting. Explain how material is presented and collected. The required feeding arrangement and operator position are project questions; a loose-piece cutting job should not be assumed to require the same setup as a continuously fed line.
Compare the shearing arrangement
A gantry shear and an alligator shear have different feed and cutting arrangements. Compare the actual sections and handling duties before selecting between them. Confirm the supplied hydraulic equipment, blade arrangement, controls and connection requirements as one defined package.
Specifications & configurations.
Tell us about your material and required configuration to discuss the relevant specifications.
Before you decide
Is this interchangeable with a gantry shear?
Compare the material sections, feed arrangement and cutting duty. The hinged-jaw and gantry arrangements should not be treated as equivalent simply because both cut metal.
What helps define the cutting requirement?
Provide the metal, section shape and dimensions, desired cut length and the proposed feeding and collection method.
